At BCS, we value the dedication of our volunteers in their mission to make IT good for society. To empower our volunteers to continue delivering their important work to the highest standard, we provide a programme of volunteering training and development.
What training is available?
- Unconscious bias training equips our volunteers with the skillset they need to recognise their own prejudices and work towards a diverse and inclusive BCS.
- Test yourself on GDPR and help us protect our member data and privacy under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
- Discover our BCS Springboard courses to help further your development as a BCS member and volunteer.
- The BCS Finance Committee offer training sessions for newly elected committee Treasures. If you are a Treasurer and are interested in arrange a session, please contact the Community team at groups@bcs.uk.
Committee Role Based Training
The training our Committee volunteers need to ensure achieving best practice is easier than ever!
- BCS Member Group Treasurer training (slide deck) provides insights into the role of Treasurer. The training slides cover everything from monthly reports, expense claims and purchase orders and invoices, to step-by-step guidance on Supplementary Funding Requests (SFRs) and annual budget bids.
We also have a plethora of continuing professional development (CPD) content in BCS Discover which may be of use to our volunteers, particularly those in areas of soft skills and leadership & management.
